Who should take this course?
Sailors enrolled in 7th through 12th grade who have graduated from either Opti Learn to Race or 420 Level 2, and have expressed an interest in competitive sailing. Coaching from LJ Nykamp and Nadia Reynolds.

Learn to Race classes are not offered the week of June 30 – July 4.
What we focus on
The primary focus is improving boat speed, rounding marks, starts and finishes, and basic racing tactics. Regatta participation on Fridays is included and strongly encouraged.
Boats are provided. We recommend two or more one-week sessions for sailors who really want to improve their racing. Graduates should consider joining Team Mac and the MBJA High School Team.
WMYSA Team Mac racing
Students participate in West Michigan Youth Sailing Association regattas held on Fridays at lakes throughout the summer. For qualified sailors, travel to out-of-state regattas is available and encouraged. Tuition covers training and coaching at WMYSA regattas; registration, travel, and additional regatta expenses are not included.

Club racing on Fridays
On Fridays opposite the WMYSA regattas we run club racing in Optis, Lasers, and 420s. Race class students are automatically entered in the mini-regatta.
